About Collision Research LTD
Collision Research LTD was founded in 1984 by Richard Hermance. He
is the president of the company and the principal consultant.
Mr. Hermance holds a Fellowship with the American College of
Forensic Examiners. He was also one of the first group of accident
reconstructionists to be certified by ACTAR, the Accreditation
Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction.
Our team approach to the forensic investigation of accidents strives
to develop a detailed analysis of crash circumstances, identification
of injury producing mechanisms, and a forensic analysis of injury producing
forces with an attempt to establish numerical relationships between injury
biomechanics relative to physical parameters of force, acceleration, velocity, and displacement. The foregoing types of scientific analysis are commonly used in evaluating issues of restraint system usage, issues of failure to utilize restraint systems, and evaluating injury biomechanics or lack thereof in low speed impact cases.
The multi-causative approach as described above is carried out by accident reconstructionists, biomechanical engineers, highway design engineers, pathologists, medical doctors, restraint system design engineers, metallurgists, along with mechanical experts, commercial vehicle and tractor-trailer driving experts, and experts in recreational vehicles. Collision Research also supplies training on a contract basis on request relative to issues involving scientific accident reconstruction.
